Departing principal Philip Lonergan with students Connla Young and Heidi Buggy
The whole school community at Moneenroe NS joined together recently to bid goodbye and good luck to departing principal Philip Lonergan.
After 12 years as principal teacher in Moneenroe NS, Mr Lonergan is moving south of the county to commence his new position in Mullinavat in St Beacons NS.
He has been an incredible ambassador for our school and has served the community of Moneenroe wholeheartedly. He has been the driving force behind the school’s successes over the past number of years.
Mr Lonergan encouraged singing, music, plays, concerts, storytelling, hurling, football, rugby, any sport you can think of. Quizzes are a huge part of everyday life in Moneenroe NS. Academically the pupils from Moneenroe NS are some of the best prepared when they leave primary education. On the pitch, the boys and girls give it everything to improve under his and his fellow teachers’ direction.
In recent years, the school building and playground have seen a new extension, school pitch with goal posts and nets, yard development and improvement.
This will be Mr Lonergan’s lasting legacy to Moneenroe. A huge ‘thank you’ to Mr Lonergan and as the children say in their song: ‘We all wish Mr Lonergan the best!’ Moinín Rua Abú!
