Movie star makes surprise visit to Kilkenny

Actor Colm Meaney made a surprise visit to the Marble City earlier this week, stopping off for a pint in Syd Harkin's Bar on Rose Inn Street in the city.

The Irish actor, originally from Finglas in Dublin, has featured in hundreds of movies and TV series including appearances as Miles O'Brien in Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), Dessie Curley in The Snapper (1993) and Don Revie in the Damned United (2009).

Mr Meaney's busy schedule shows no signs of dying down with a number of projects in the pipeline, but in the meantime, he could be in a watering hole near you!
