Health and community workers have called off a strike which was due to begin today.
The strike action, due to take place in Kilkenny and across the country including by Enable Ireland workers at the end of St. Joseph’s Road in the Butts housing estate and at Newpark Close Family Resource Centre planned to highlight the issue of pay fairness and the right to a living wage for the approximately 5,000 people working in the sector.
However, earlier today it was confirmed proposals had been brokered which include commitments to increase pay and service funding.
The proposals have now been brought forward for consideration.
