Ballycallan Fife and Drum Band
The biggest fixture on the local hurling calendar has arrived, Shamrocks Ballyhale and O'Loughlin Gaels do battle in the St Canice's Credit Union SHC Final and the match throws in at 2pm in UPMC Nowlan Park.
But, the Kilkenny Senior County Final is synonymous with being a special day as well as a marquee fixture and today will be no different...
The three-in a-row Fenians team who claimed Senior Championship titles in 1972, 73 and 74 are guest of honours on the day and supporters will have an opportunity to relive the North Kilkenny outfit's successful period in a specially published souvenir booklet.
Before a ball is even pucked, a piece of history will already have taken place on the UPMC Nowlan Park turf.
The Ballycallan Fife and Drum Band will lead the teams in the parade ahead of throw-in. Formed in 1870, the honour will mark a special occasion for many of the band members, some of whom are fourth and fifth generation family members of previous band members and club players.
Supporters attending the game are asked to purchase their tickets at selected Centra/SuperValu stores or on the Kilkenny GAA website and to arrive at UPMC Nowlan Park early for throw-in.
