Through the scholarship programme students will be supported to develop and progress in their journey as talented athletes and meeting their academic goals through the UCC Sport Performance Programme.

The programme is tailored for UCC’s sports scholarship students, elite teams, and athletes performing at top level sport in third level sport in Cork, Munster, Ireland and internationally.

UCC also has partnerships with national governing bodies, provincial sports organisations, and works with Sport Ireland in the delivery of their high performance strategy.

“UCC values and recognises our outstanding student athletes and the major contribution they make to themselves, sports, their communities, families and schools. We thank our extraordinary coaches, volunteers, Clubs Executive and staff who are supporting them,” said UCC President John O’ Halloran.

“We also would like to express our sincere gratitude to our sponsors who support our scholarship programme – Bank of Ireland, Gym+Coffee; MJ Dowling; Moss Keane family, Jason Foley Family and the UCC GAA Alumni.  These sponsors and their support make a significant contribution to the development and success of our athletes.”

“Congratulations to all our teams, and athletes. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and their coaches, volunteers and clubs who support them with our great staff and services in UCC,” said Morgan Buckley, Head of UCC Sport.

“The services we can provide to our performance teams and athletes are greatly enhanced by the UCC Sport scholarship programme.  Our priority is to ensure they can balance their studies and sport. We are delighted to be able to continue to secure the Accreditation for Student-Athlete Support standard (ASAS) which is an accreditation recently developed and launched by Sport Ireland aimed at providing equal opportunity to all high-performing student-athletes to combine sport and education.”

“The value and support to our students makes UCC a great place to study and excel in sport.  We have fantastic levels of participation in sport, and we are very proud of them all,” said Nessa Wheeler, UCC Club’s Executive President.
