Taoiseach Leo Varadkar
An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is scheduled to visit Kilkenny on Thursday, November 9.
Mr Varadkar's visit will mark the official opening of the new Fine Gael office locally, based at 9 Ormonde Court, Ormonde Road in the city.
The opening marks a significant period for local Fine Gael representatives, with the countdown to next year's local elections well and truly underway.
In October, Martin Brett and David FitzGerald were both selected to run for Fine Gael in next year's local elections.
The pair will be aiming to retain their seats in the Kilkenny City Municipal District.
In the Castlecomer Municipal District, sitting Fine Gael councillors John Brennan and Mary Hilda Cavanagh will also be aiming to retain their seats.
In the Piltown Municipal District, Fine Gael has three candidates selected to contest the election.
Two of these candidates will be looking to retain their seats (Fidelis Doherty and Pat Dunphy) but new candidate Damien Donoghue will also be vying for selection.
In the Callan-Thomastown Municipal District, Fine Gael councillors Michael Doyle and Joe Lyons will seek re-election, while new candidate Orla Kelly will also contest the election.
The 2024 Irish local elections are scheduled to be held in all local authorities in Ireland in June next year.
