Kilkenny County Council launch Draft Climate Action Plan

Kilkenny County Council launch Draft Climate Action Plan

Kilkenny County Council is inviting the public to give their views on the 'Draft Kilkenny County Council Climate Action Plan'. This Plan outlines the actions that the local authority will take over the next five years to address climate action.

The plan sets out the measures that Kilkenny County Council will take across its own services, operations and assets, in particular how the Council will reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the risks of climate change and will provide a roadmap on how the council will respond to climate challenges, meet climate obligations, and deepen their commitment to climate action.

The plan also details how the Council will, through its functions, demonstrate leadership, advocate for and support other stakeholders in the county to address climate change.

The Draft Kilkenny County Council Climate Action Plan (2024–2029) is on public display until Wednesday, December 20.

Members of the public are invited to make submissions and observations on the plan.

A public webinar, hosted by Kilkenny Public Participation Network, will be held on Wednesday, November 22 at 7pm.

Meanwhile, The Kilkenny County Council Climate Action team will be available to answer any questions from the public at: Ferrybank Library (Tuesday, November 21, 10:30am-1pm), Castlecomer Library (Wednesday, November 22, 10:30am-1pm) and Kilkenny City Library (Thursday, November 23, 10:30am-1pm). They all need significant investment to get them to a more sustainable level, but I’m confident working with communities, the staff and Elected members Kilkenny County Council can achieve their targets and help Kilkenny become a better place for everybody to live and work."
