Elected members, Kilkenny County Council housing staff, building contractor and design team at the opening of 25 new homes at Legan Grange, Thomastown
Kilkenny County Council have announced the completion of 25 new homes at Legan Grange & Legan Close, Thomastown, County Kilkenny.
The development was funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage under the Housing for All Programme at a construction cost of €6m.
Constructed on lands at and at Ladywell/Newtown, Thomastown the development is a mix of 1,2 and 3 bed accommodation including wheelchair accessible homes.
This estate is well located at the edge of the town centre, close to all amenities which will be of benefit to the new community here.
Welcoming the completion of the project was Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr Michael Doyle.
"I am delighted to see this development being finalised," he said. "It’s very positive news and it is great to see Kilkenny County Council’s Housing Construction Programme continuing to progress at pace."
Cllr Doyle wished all the very best to the families moving into their new homes here before Christmas.
Thanks and congratulations were extended to the design team led by CJ Falconer Architects and including David Kelly Partnership, Douglas Carroll Consulting Engineers and Nolan Construction Consultants.

Cllr Deirdre Cullen, Cathaoirleach of the Callan/Thomastown Municipal District, also welcomed the delivery of these new A-rated homes acknowledged the high quality of the housing scheme and congratulated builder John Somers on a job well done.
The cooperation of the surrounding community was also acknowledged, at both design stage and during the disruption that the construction period caused at a very busy junction.
These homes are 25 of around 160 new build housing units that will be provided in Kilkenny in 2023 as part of the overall capital delivery pipeline for the county under Housing for All.
The delivery of new homes will continue during 2024 and 2025 with the delivery of social and affordable homes continuing to meet, and exceed national delivery targets.
