The Welsh pub with a real Kilkenny connection

The Kilkenny Cat is a popular Irish pub located in the heart of the the Welsh town of Llanelli that has been in operation for nearly thirty years.

It's not a pub that many people in Kilkenny would be aware of but it has a huge local connection.

The pub is currently managed by husband and wife team, Steve and Una.

Una is originally from the Rioch Street area of Kilkenny City, and has now made Wales her home.

Not forgetting her roots, the pub was named The Kilkenny Cat to pay homage to her former homestead.

"There's lots of Kilkenny memorabilia scattered around the inside of the pub as well," she told Kilkenny Live.

"I often head back to Kilkenny and lots of people from Kilkenny stop by and visit the pub when they're over here in Wales."

The pub has quickly gathered a reputation for being once of the best local music venues in Llanelli.
