Fresh International Film Festival is now accepting entries for Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year 2024!
Open internationally to all young budding filmmakers, between 7 - 18 years of age, encouraging young people from Ireland and overseas to create, exhibit, and share films. Comedy, horror, drama, documentary, experimental, music video, animation, all are welcome and we’re eagerly anticipating the incredible stories that young filmmakers bring to our festival!
For almost three decades, Ireland’s Fresh International Film Festival has nurtured, mentored and platformed many of the island’s most exciting new filmmaking talent, bolstering Ireland’s emerging film, television, and digital creative sector. From Oscar-nominated director Vincent Lambe to All-American High School Film Festival, New York ‘Best Director’ Seán Treacy, BBC Presenter and Author Nick Sheridan, Comedian and TV personality Justine Stafford and countless more, Fresh Film alumni play myriad roles in film, television, and digital media sectors in Ireland and across the world.
Speaking about the call for entries, Artistic Director and Fresh Founder, Jayne Foley said
“As we go into our 28th festival, the anticipation and thrill are as vibrant as ever. It’s always wonderful to see emerging young filmmakers share their unique stories and pioneering film techniques that evoke the same excitement as the very first time. This celebration captures the enduring spirit and innovation of young filmmakers, showcasing their talent and creativity at its finest".
The 28th annual Fresh International Film Festival will take place in April next year, showcasing hundreds of short films from Ireland’s future screen talent. A highlight of the festival is Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year, an awards programme which acknowledges and celebrates the highest standards of youth filmmaking across three categories: Junior (7-12 years), Senior (13-18 years) and International (7-18 years). The awards include a prize fund, filmmaking equipment, mentoring sessions with creative professionals, and the opportunity for young people to have their work screened theatrically.
Closing date for entries is Friday, 19 January, 2024. Submission forms are available at https://freshfilm.ie/fresh- international-film-festival- submissions/
