ARCHIVE: Martial Law declared in Kilkenny

Thursday, January 4 marked an historic anniversary locally as Martial Law was extended to Co Kilkenny as well as counties; Clare, Waterford & Wexford.

Public meetings like marts, fairs, football matches are banned. All Crown forces there 'were declared to be on active service'.

Anyone found with weapons will 'Suffer Death', the proclamation read.
