The murder of former model Lisa Doyle will feature in the upcoming documentary Marú inár Measc which will be aired on TG4 on February 7.
The episode features the family of the 24-year-old who was strangled to death with a shoelace by her fiancée Gerard O’Hara in Leighlinbridge, Co.Carlow, on September 20, 2009.
Lisa’s murder sent shockwaves through the community as her family grappled to make sense of what had happened. Lisa’s family now understand that their sister had been living under coercive control and they hope that no one will ever have to suffer like their sister did. Viewers learn what support can be given to families who have to navigate sudden and traumatic death.
Including interviews with Gardaí who were close to the case; those first on the scene and those who interviewed the perpetrator at the time, the series features extremely personal interviews with the family members and friends of murder victims as they continue to fight for justice to this very day.
Marú inár Measc is narrated by Doireann Ní Bhriain. It features interviews with social care expert Dr. Patrick McGarty, former detective Brendan Murphy and spokesperson for Support After Homicide Rita O’Quigley as well as many other well known journalists and experts.
This is the fourth series of MARÚ INÁR MEASC, a three-part true crime documentary series by Midas Productions for TG4, which shines a light on the effect that fatal crimes have on society, local communities and on the victim’s families as they are left without answers.
This unique series blends observational documentary with key testimonies from those who continue to be deeply affected by the tragedy. Each documentary shows how the bereaved families, loved ones and the communities continue on with their lives and fight for justice to keep the cases alive and in the public eye.
