O'Loughlin Gaels' All-Ireland dreams came to a crushing end on Sunday, as they lost out to St Thomas' of Galway in a chaotic and controversial final in Croke Park by 0-18 to 0-17.
A wonder point from Eanna Burke in the final minute gave the St Thomas' men victory and secured their second All-Ireland Senior title, a feat they first achieved in 2013.
Unfortunately for the Kilkenny side, the non-award of a first half Owen Wall goal would prove crucial on the day, as despite video footage showing the sliotar crossing the line quickly became clear to supporters, the umpires and referee Sean Stack failed to spot the incident and no goal was awarded.
It may not have been O'Loughlin Gaels' day but their supporters were on hand to give the team a huge reception upon return to Kilkenny last night, with fans and club members coming together to celebrate a successful year.
This is some club ..what a reception for these lads. They gave it their all every day they went out training, playing with every fibre of their being. A worthy reception.. well done to everyone. The celebration continues .. O'Loughlin Gaels abú ⬜ pic.twitter.com/6vzAqkqQjn
