There are 18 patients waiting on a trolley in the emergency department at St Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny today and a further five patients waiting on the wards.
Nationally, there are 467 patients waiting on wards across the country and a further 173 patients waiting on the wards.
Meanwhile, St Luke's General Hospital's Emergency Department is reported to be 'extremely busy' this afternoon with a high numbers of patients attending.
Members of the public are urged to consider all available care options before attending the AMAU/ Emergency Department in the local hospital.
