Shrughawadda Players will perform their new play in St Eoghan's Centre, Kilmoganny from Wednesday, January 31 to Saturday, February 3 at 8.15pm nightly.
'By the Bog of Cats' was written in 1998 by Dublin woman Marina Carr who spent most of her childhood around Lake Pallas in Offaly, and is set in the mysterious landscape of the bogs of rural Ireland.
The lyrical and timeless play tells the story of Hester Swane, an Irish traveller with a deep and unearthly connection to her land.
Tormented by the memory of her motherwho deserted her, Hester is once again betrayed, this time by the father of her child, the man she loves. On the brink of despair, she embarks on a terrible journey of vegeance.
