The Kilkenny People understands that local star, Stevie Mulrooney (8), will take part in the city's St Patrick's Day Parade this March, performing 'Ireland's Call'.

The youngster, from the Kennyswell Road in Kilkenny City gave a rousing rendition of the song to more than 50,000 spectators in the Aviva Stadium on Sunday prior to Ireland's clash with Italy.

Stevie received high praise from Ireland boss Andy Farrell after the match.

"He was waving to the crowd, stood there on his own," Farrell said in a post-match interview.

"I thought this kid’s got it all. He was amazing," he added.

Stevie rose to prominence late last year performing the Irish rugby anthem on RTE's Late Late Toy Show.

Mulrooney is not the only star to feature in the Kilkenny parade this year with Carrickshock and Kilkenny hurling legend  Richie Power jnr named the Grand Marshall of this year's Kilkenny St Patrick's Day Parade.

The parade titled, 'Kilkenny Cats: Tales and Legends', is expected to see the Grand Marshall travel by bicycle in a move away from the traditional motor transport used in previous years.
