Should High Street be pedestrianised?

Speaking at Tuesday's meeting of the Kilkenny Municipal District, Mayor Joe Malone claimed the pedestrianisation of Kilkenny City is coming 'down the road' and 'it will happen eventually'.

Cllr Malone claimed a number of people and groups in the local community have spoken to him on the matter and have indicated they would like to see it introduced.

Responding to Mr Malone's claims, one Kilkenny resident reached out to the Kilkenny People to voice her concern at the prospect of such measures coming to pass.

"I do not agree with this proposal. I think there should be more places for me to park my car as I have a  Disability. Many years ago I  fell on the Mayor's Walk here in Kilkenny City." the reader said.

"Currently I am doing exercises each Friday morning in the Castle Park Kilkenny organised by Seamus Nugent and KRSP. I use Activator Walking Poles to do this exercise," the person added.
