A Kilkenny councillor has criticised the conduct of some supporters attending UPMC Nowlan Park when parking their cars to attend the venue, highlighting the ongoing impact it's having on local residents.
"Walking around this Sunday just showed me how little some people care when it comes to parking," Cllr Eugene McGuinness said.
"Despite a small crowd at the match on Sunday and ample parking available within walking distance, some motorists insist on parking not only on the grass margins but blocking cycle lanes and footpaths," he added.
The Independent councillor hopes a 'Notices of Motion' he previously raised to Kilkenny County Council recommending permanent measures as a solution will be before the Council for members to vote on 'in the near future'.
"It should be pointed out that residents in the estates surrounding Nowlan Park are fully supportive of the GAA and our great sport of hurling and comogie but proper parking/traffic management measures must be put in place to enable us all to enjoy what is a great day out for all the family," Mr McGuinness concluded.
