Calling all former Valley Rovers players and supporters! It is planned to have a belated 50th anniversary celebration at the Avalon Hotel, Castlecomer on Friday, May 3 at 7.30pm for all who played or supported the team of 1970 to 1977, including those who played with St Kevin’s.
Valley Rovers played their home games at Moscow near Newtown crossroads, Crettyard. Valley reached two Kilkenny Shield finals in 1971 and 1973. They also played in a play-off for the Division One title of the Kilkenny & District League in 1974.
Tickets, €25, for the gala evening are available from Crettyard United AFC through chairman Bill Delaney or from the reception desk at the Avalon Hotel. The organising committee is Seamus Purcell, Sean Scanlan, Eamonn Ginty, Joe Butler, Barry O’Neill and Donie Butler.
