Planning permission has been granted by Kilkenny County Council for the development of two new hotels in Kilkenny City.
The first hotel application, from Spark Way Limited (submitted in March 2023) sought to construct a hotel on lands to the south of MacDonagh Station (opposite John's Church).
Kilkenny County Council requested 24 additional items of information from the applicant after these plans were reviewed.
The amended plans were subsequently approved, subject to 18 conditions, on February 29, 2024.
The second hotel application from Salway Limited (submitted in March 2023) sought to construct a hotel, leisure and conference complex on lands adjacent to the Hebron Road/N10 in Blanchfieldsland, Kilkenny City.
Kilkenny County Council requested 27 additional items of information from the applicant after these plans were reviewed.
The amended plans were subsequently approved, subject to 25 conditions, on February 29, 2024.
It must be noted that there is a possibility that both of the above decisions can be appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
More detail on the various aspects of the amended plans for both hotel applications will be available inside next week's Kilkenny People newspaper.
