Locals in Mullinavat and Bigwood who came out in force to clean up the villages and all approach roads on Bank Holiday Monday.
The popular annual event was organised by 'Mullinavat Matters' with the support of Kilkenny County Council and An Taisce.
The rain held off for the duration of the clean-up, allowing approximately 80 bags to be filled with litter collected from roadsides and rivers.
Together with the litter taken off the sides of the R448 the previous week, it means over 180 bags of litter were removed from the countryside and villages. All involved in the Spring Clean would express the wish that the roadsides would remain litter-free into the future.
