Local Fianna Fáil councillor, Pat Fitzpatrick has welcomed the recent allocations in excess of €1 million for roads in Muckalee, Coon, Ballyfoyle, Johnswell and Castlewarren under the Municipal District Roadworks Scheme 2024.
The allocation will allow for essential road restoration improvement, road maintenance and special works. The works that will be undertaken include restoration improvements at Lower Muckalee, Muckalee to Knockmajor, Croghtenclogh, Baurnafe to Reevanagh, Castlewarren to Knockadeen and Coolbricken to Kilkieran.
Restoration maintenance: Barry’s Cross to Coon, Muckalee, Ballysallagh Hill, Coolgreany to Ossory Hill. Safety improvements at Kane’s Bridge and drainage works at Baurnafea, Freneystown and Kylefarney.
"Over the last number of months I have been raising these matters with senior engineers,” said Cllr Fitzpatrick. “I’m very pleased that they have taken my views and the views of the wider community on board and put the resources in place to carry out these much needed works," Cllr Fitzpatrick said.
