RPS Consulting Engineers have been appointed as lead consultant for the delivery of the Inistioge to South-East Greenway link.
The project consists of a new greenway link between the Woodstock Estate in Inistioge and New Ross, where it will join the wider South-East Greenway.
The project aims to develop a sustainable tourism experience for visitors to the area, as well as creating a recreational and leisure amenity for locals to enjoy, increasing connectivity between two rural towns and promoting sustainable methods of transport.
It is anticipated to be 16-20km in length and will traverse the scenic River Nore Valley in South Kilkenny.
This appointment also coincides with the recent opening of the new RPS office in Purcellsinch Business Park, Kilkenny, where the Project Team for the greenway will be based.
Speaking at today’s announcement, Willie Madden, RPS Managing Director said that the company 'are delighted to work with Kilkenny County Council and TII in delivering this strategic piece of greenway infrastructure for the South-East'.
"Opening a new office in Kilkenny enables us to offer a high quality service to Kilkenny County Council and our other clients throughout the South-East region, as well as attract new talent to join our team," he added.
Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr Michael Doyle, expressed his delight that this project was progressing into the next phase, noting that it would be transformative for the tourist offering of not just Woodstock and Inistioge but the whole of Kilkenny and the wider South-East region.
