There was great drama as the Scór Sinsear Chill Chainnigh competitions were held at The Set Theatre recently.
Acts from St Brigid’s and Windgap camogie clubs, as well as Thomastown, Piltown and Windgap GAA clubs competed in three categories: solo singing, recitation and ballad group. Last year saw the revival of Scór in Kilkenny and this year saw participation up 40%. Thanks went to Shane Walsh, Kilkenny GAA Irish Cultural Officer and his committee for all their hard work behind the scenes.
There was stiff competition as all competitors performed superbly. St Brigid’s proved the strongest this year as they swept the board and won all three categories. Gary Bourke (solo singing), John Dunphy (recitation) and the St Brigid’s Ballad Group (Gary Bourke, Sharon Bourke, Leslie Sweeney, Deirdre Muldowney and Lorraine Kenny) will now progress to the Leinster semi-final in Oulart, Wexford on Saturday.
The Scór Sinsear table quiz will be held today (Thursday) at 7pm in O’Loughlin Gaels. The competition is open to GAA, camogie, ladies football and handball club members. Any club interested in entering can contact Shane at Irishculturalofficer.
