The annual spring clean in Kilmacow resulted in about 60 bags of litter being removed from local roads around the area.
A spokesperson from the community said: "The efforts of individuals who have taken to clean up litter from local roads independent of the Spring Clean should be noted. Their work may explain a large part of why there was a significant reduction in the amount of litter collected during the Spring Clean last Sunday."
"Thanks also went to Michael Kinsella for collecting the bags of litter from the various locations around the parish, to Kay Williams for facilitating storage of the waste material until removal by the Council and to Kilkenny County Council and to An Taisce for their support of the Spring Clean."
The latest spring clean is one of a number of similar initiatives in South Kilkenny in recent times with 180 bags of litter removed in the Mullinavat area alone over the past number of weeks.
