TAP '>' FOR NEXT PILTOWN LEA CANDIDATE
Michael Wemyss (Sinn Féin)
Michael Wemyss has lived in South Kilkenny for over 40 years and during that period he has seen numerous changes.
He lives in Glenmore with wife Carmel, having previously resided in Rathculliheen.
“I currently work with the local authority and have first hand knowledge of ongoing issues in the area,” he said.
“As vice chairperson of the local Sinn Féin Cumann in South Kilkenny, I understand the challenges that local people endure,” he added.
“If elected, I will work tirelessly for communities that have been failed by the political establishment.”
While out canvassing for the local elections across the Piltown local electoral area, some of the main issues that have Mr Wemyss cited being raised on the doorsteps were housing, health and infrastructure.
“The people of South Kilkenny feel that their concerns and needs are not being met,” he said.
“My priorities include campaigning for more social and affordable housing, changes to the planning process, improved funding for community, sport and mental health and effective community policing to tackle anti-social behaviour.
“Another issue is the cost of living crisis which has seen so many families struggle on a daily basis to provide basic essentials such as food and heat in their homes.
“If elected, I will ensure that the voice of my community is heard and represented at council level. Change starts here.”
