Minister of State and Green Party TD for Carlow-Kilkenny, Malcom Noonan hailed his party colleague, Cllr Maria Dollard for getting over the electoral finishing line in the Local Elections last weekend.
Cllr Dollard held onto her seat in the Kilkenny City LEA polling at 891 after Count 15.
Cllr Dollard was co-opted after the Dáil election of Malcolm Noonan in 2020 and will now be the party's only council representative.
"Co-opted in 2020 onto a seat I first won twenty years ago, Cllr Maria Dollard wins the seat in her own right to bring an unbroken Green Party presence on Kilkenny County Council to quarter of a century," Minister Noonan said.
"On a weekend of mixed fortunes for the Greens, this represents a chink of light and testament to Maria's hard work over the past four years," he added.
"Comhgairdeas Maria, Niall and family and thanks to our amazing team of canvassers who knocked on every door in the electoral area to get those votes."

Mr Noonan also paid tribute to party candidates who failed to secure election.
"This morning of course we feel for all of our wonderful candidates who didn't make it across the line. The climate and biodiversity crisis will still have to be addressed," the Kilkenny TD concluded.
