Kilkenny prepares for 'challenging' and 'scenic' sporting event

The Kilkenny Triathlon 2024, hosted by the Kilkenny Triathlon Club, is set to take place on Sunday, July 7, in the Kilkenny Castle Park. 

Participants will embark on a challenging and scenic journey, starting with a 750m river swim to the canal boat slip. Following the swim, athletes will transition in the Castle Park for a 20k bike ride, taking them out to Danesfort, through Bennetsbridge and back to the Castle Park. The race will conclude with a final 5k run within the beautiful castle grounds, providing a stunning backdrop for both competitors and spectators alike.

The Kilkenny Triathlon is a highlight in the local sporting calendar, drawing participants and supporters from across the region.

"We encourage everyone to come out and support the athletes as they compete in this challenging and scenic triathlon,” commented Event Race Director, Nicole Hennessy, adding, "your cheers and encouragement make a significant difference to the competitors."
