A Kilkenny man who lost his sight after an accident has thanked the public for their help.
Kevin Phelan from Gowran, suffered a life changing injury in December 2023, when unloading lime from a tanker as part of his normal everyday duties. It resulted in him losing sight in both eyes.
In a bid to help his family with the burden of treatment and costs, and the fact Kevin cannot work, his friend Denis Quinlan set up a GoFundMe campaign. To date, it has raised over €11,850.
Recently, on the fundraiser page, Denis wrote an update on behalf of Kevin to post his gratitude to all that have shared his page and sent kindness and messages of support and blessings.

"We as a family appreciate all that you have done for us and it takes away the burden and worry for Kevin and he can put his energy into healing and getting better," he wrote.
"Kevin has no distance or clarity in his sight but has light and shapes which is a massive positive after such a horrific injury. Please keep sharing his page and keep Kevin in your prayers that he will recover from this. Thank you all again, update you all soon. Much love and blessings to all."
