Soap Box City 2024 is a literary event designed for writers to share their original work in an open mic form during Kilkenny Arts Festival.
Kilkenny Writers Anonymous, with the funding and backing of the Arts Office, is inviting writers of all genres and at all stages of their careers, to join them to read original works on the theme of ‘Without A Map’.
Professional writers, emerging writers, and potential writers are all invited to perform or simply come and listen and two invited guests will perform their own work. Poetry, short story and excerpts are all encouraged. There is a limit of five minutes per person to allow a wide variety and number of participants. Attendance is free of charge.
The first event is on Thursday, August 8 at 2pm in Billy Byrne’s on Upper John Street. The second event will take place on Saturday, August 10 at 2pm in Rothe House. Registration on both dates from 1.30 to 2pm.
Kilkenny Writers Anonymous is a supportive group who have been meeting for the last two years to help one another to develop their writing skills. The group would like to share that sense of support and community with other Kilkenny writers in a celebratory and inclusive way.
