Kilkenny cafe announces closure claiming council works are 'crucifying' them

The Barista Sistas in Callan have announced they will close their doors on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week due to works by Kilkenny County Council taking place directly outside their premises.

Posting to social media, the Callan cafe claimed the works, which have been ongoing on for the past number of weeks, are 'crucifying' the business and the council 'it would appear' has 'no concern' for small businesses.

The local cafe also stated they may not re-open again following the works due to a 'drastic decline' in customer numbers.

"We have seen a drastic decline in customers over the last month," the Facebook post read, adding, "as a small business, this is crucifying us. Kilkenny County Council have given us no notice of these works, and it would appear that they have no concern over what it does to a small business. If/when we reopen, we would appreciate your support."
