Exhibition is an historic paean to Kilkenny

The Marble City, the exhibition by renowned artist Ramie Leahy is running at The Bridge House

Kilkenny artist Ramie Leahy is showcasing his latest work in an exhibition, The Marble City, at The Bridge House at the Rivercourt Hotel until August 18.

Leahy is from Kilkenny, the Marble City, and is a member of the internationally acclaimed Kilkenny Colourist movement with his peers Francis Tansey, Elizabeth Cope and the late Tony O’Malley.
The exhibition was opened this afternoon (Saturday) by Noel Pearson, one of Ireland's leading arts impresarios and producer of films including My Left Foot, The Field, Dancing at Lughnasa and more.

Ramie has exhibited extensively in Ireland and abroad. One of Ireland’s foremost artists, since the start of his career Ramie’s paintings have been targeted by collectors worldwide.

For over half a century Ramie Leahy has been charting the landscape in his singular chromatic style. His extensive
travels have taken him across Europe and Asia to Africa and the States, en route producing a substantial catalogue of work
which has been exhibited internationally.

Following an education in the hallowed halls of Trinity College Dublin, and the renowned International University of Art in
Florence, Ramie went on to instigate what is now Kilkenny Arts Festival, the first international arts festival in Ireland.

This exhibition is an historic paean to his native Kilkenny, the ‘Marble City’. All works are painted on location, in and around Kilkenny, with the occasional whimsical piece included for good measure.
