Exhibition: Kilkenny artist captures The Marble City in its perfect colour

Bright, bold and beautiful - Kilkenny artist Ramie Leahy has captured Kilkenny in magnificient hues in his latest exhibition, The Marble City.

The exhibition was opened by his friend and renowned film producer, Noel Pearson who described it as a great honour to officiate at the opening.

Ramie Leahy spoke at the event about his involvement in the arts in Kilkenny since the founding of the Kilkenny Arts Festival in 1974. He went is speak about the need for a larger performance/theatre space in Kilkenny to allow the city host bigger productions and events.

Leahy is from Kilkenny, the Marble City, and is a member of the internationally acclaimed Kilkenny Colourist movement with his peers Francis Tansey, Elizabeth Cope and the late Tony O’Malley.

For over half a century Ramie Leahy has been charting the landscape in his singular chromatic style. His travels have taken him across Europe and Asia to Africa and the States, en route producing a substantial catalogue of work which has been exhibited internationally.

The Marble City runs at The Bridge House at the Rivercourt Hotel until August 18.
