New bus route for Vicar Street in Kilkenny during planned works

New bus route for Vicar Street in Kilkenny during planned works

Vicar Street, Kilkenny

An agreement between the National Transport Authority (NTA) and Kilkenny County Council to re-route the KK2 bus route, due to planned works for a one-way system at Vicar Street, will see the new bus route use Green’s Bridge.

City engineer Ian Gardner outlined the new route which is expected to run from early November.

“Instead of traversing Vicar Street, the route will divert via St Francis Bridge, Greensbridge Street, Greens Bridge and Green Street.

“Three new stops will be provided on St Canice’s Place between Vicar Street and St Francis Bridge, Greensbridge Street and Green Street.

“Each new stop will require a bus stop on either side of the road so six new bus stops will need to be constructed,” he said.

It is hoped to commence works on the new bus stops in mid to late September.
