The Droichead Family Resource Centre in Callan welcomed Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth Roderic O Gorman to our service in Callan on Thursday, September 5 during his visit to Kilkenny.
The Minister had a tour of our Childcare and Family Resource Centre and even had the opportunity to experience some of Droichead FRC’s community based support programmes. Minister O Gorman spoke with service users of all ages, volunteers and staff.
Also present on the day were Minister for Heritage and Electoral Reform Malcolm Noonan and local councillors Joe Lyons and David Fitzgerald.

Project Manager Olive Maher spoke with the Minister at length in regard to the recent welcomed investment to a number of FRC’s and the ongoing investment in the childcare sector.
"This investment is welcomed and a good starting point," she said.
Olive also discussed the challenges facing the FRC programme, local and national issues such as childcare, staffing, further investment in local services, the importance of early intervention and the key challenges facing families today.
