A number of high-profile figures have moved roles

All change for the Kilkenny council executive

Kilkenny County Council

Tributes have been paid to outgoing senior city engineer with Kilkenny County Council, Ian Gardner, who has departed his base in the city to take up a new role in the Piltown Municipal District as Acting Director of Services in Housing and Community.

Mr Gardner, alongside a number of members of the council executive, have changed their portfolios and began their new roles on Tuesday, September 17.

At Friday’s city municipal meeting, every councillor expressed their sorrow but deep thanks to Mr Gardner for his service.

Mayor of Kilkenny Andrew McGuinness hailed his contributions to the city, commenting: "I’m sad to see you go."

Fellow Fianna Fáil councillor, Joe Malone, added: "Anything you ever did was for the betterment of the city."

"We had a great relationship and you always were available to take a call," Independent Eugene McGuinness remarked.

"I really enjoyed my time in the city," Mr Gardner said.

"Thank you sincerely for the good wishes," he continued.

Other Confirmed Changes:

Tim Butler, Kilkenny City Municipal District & Director of Services - Planning, Economic & Environmental Services (including Parks, LEO & Town Regeneration).

Mary Mullholland, Director of Services - Corporate and Infrastructure (including Human Resources, Roads, Machinery Yard, Health and Safety).

Martin Prendiville, Castlecomer Municipal District & Head of Finance - Finance, Information Technology, Procurement & Facilities Management.

Fiona Deegan, Callan-Thomastown Municipal District and Acting Director of Services - Integration, Emergency Service and Culture ( including Fire Service, Civil Defence, Library, Arts and Heritage).
