Nine submissions were made to Kilkenny County Council for the draft Paulstown Masterplan.
A report on the submissions was prepared for members of the Castlecomer Municipal District at their monthly meeting.
Acting Director of Services, Denis Malone compiled the report for the members for consideration.
“The draft Paulstown Masterplan brings together opportunities for investment, improvement and development across a wide range of potential locations,” he said.
“The purpose of the Masterplan is to guide the development of Paulstown into the future and to influence and deliver on real change for the town to make it a more attractive destinaition to live, work, visit and do business.”
Over 50 people attended a public consultation workshop in Paulstown Community Hall in January and a drop-in public information evening was also held in April duing the four-week consultation period.
One submission raised concern in relation to the current car parking facility at Scoil Bhride in Paulstown. Mr Malone recommended that the council will work with An Taisce and Scoil Bhride to prepare a delivery plan and establish proposed works under the Safe Routes to School Programme. Other issues raised in submissions included around the provision of disabled parking bays, footpaths, concerns over water/waste water services capacity, issues of accessibility and public realm and the provision of a business hub for remote workers.
Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick proposed that the draft masterplan be brought before the full council and this was seconded by Cllr Michael McCarthy.
