Networking event to take place in Kilkenny next month

Watergate Theatre, Kilkenny

Artists from the South East are invited to join them at the first South-East Venues Network (SEVN) networking Event at Watergate Theatre in Kilkenny on November 5.

This will be the first in a series of gatherings, designed to help the artistic community in the SouthEast region become better
connected.

The SEVN network is committed to a better future for artists in the South-East and wants to strengthen their community and empower artists in the region to make a viable life in the arts a reality.

"We believe we have untapped collective power as a community. The SEVN network wants to harness that power to imagine a better future as the artistic community faces steeper challenges than ever with housing and cost of living crises intertwining to undermine the working and living conditions of so many in the sector," said a spokesperson for the collective.

The event schedule includes a welcome reception at  5pm, an introduction and overview of the South-East Venue
Network (SEVN), a performance by previous SEVN bursary recipient Beth McNinch.

Beth's performance; The Suffragette; was commissioned by Libby Croad as part of the SEVN bursary. It went on to be turned into a dance film called Deeds Not and featured at Wicklow Screendance festival in 2023.

The performance will be followed by an insight from 2023/2024 SEVN bursary recipient Fadi Zmorrod on how the bursary impacted his work, a Q and A with venue directors and networking.

The South East Venue Network is made up of the following venues: Watergate, Kilkenny; The Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely, Wicklow; Theatre Royal, Waterford;  Garter Lane Arts Centre, Waterford;  Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, Wicklow;
National Opera House, Wexford; Wexford Arts Centre, Wexford and Visual in Carlow.
