This year’s festival will host over 100 market stalls, featuring artisan food producers and street food vendors from across Ireland. It's a fantastic opportunity to sample local delicacies, pick up fresh ingredients, and discover the latest in gourmet street food.
Savour Kilkenny isn't just about taste, it's about sustainability and the future of food. The festival will explore critical topics such as food waste, the circular economy, and the future of Ireland's food industry, engaging audiences in meaningful conversations about the challenges and opportunities in food production.
Additionally, a special event celebrating the legendary women who have transformed Kilkenny’s food scene will take place. This discussion, moderated by Edward Hayden, will feature Anne Neary, Helen Finnegan, Olivia Goodwillie, Julie Calder-Potts, Mary Walsh, and Mag Kirwan, offering insights into their extraordinary contributions to the culinary world.
Savour Food Festival Manager, Marian Flannery, said:
“We’re all very excited for this weekend in Kilkenny as we’re going to have some of the best names in Irish food here showcasing their culinary excellence. Whether it’s your first time attending Savour Kilkenny or whether you’ve been before, there’s something for everyone. We’re especially looking forward to Saturday night when Abbaesque come to town. It’s proven to be a hugely popular event so we’re looking forward to seeing the crowds out and it’s the first time the markets on The Parade will stay open until 9pm.”
Smithwick’s has a proud history of supporting festivals in Kilkenny and is delighted to play a leading role in promoting the city’s rich food and brewing heritage. Smithwick’s Experience Kilkenny Manager, Ignacio Peregrina, said:
“The tradition of brewing has been at the heart of Kilkenny’s vibrant food and drink scene for centuries. We look forward to meeting and serving ale drinkers at the Craft Brewers and Distillers Marquee on the Parade; to sponsoring chef Gary O’Hanlon on the Savour Stage; and to hosting a very special Barrel Yard Savour Session. The event will feature live music from Kilkenny’s very own Burnchurch and delicious street food from Blasta Woodfired Pizza, served on site on the Sunday evening of the festival from 6pm.”
Entry to the Savour Market, cookery demos and talks are free. Dining events and special events are individually priced. For the full schedule of events and dining event tickets, see www.savourkilkenny.com or @savourkilkenny on Instagram.
