Kilkenny student designs medals at Irish Badminton Championship

Moya Wilson being presented with her winning medal design

In February of this year, Badminton Ireland decided to host a “design our medal” competition whereby students from affiliated schools all over Ireland could make their own medal design and the winner of the overall competition had a Kilkenny connection.

Presentation secondary school student, Moya Wilson came out on top overall with her medal sent for production to be used at the National Badminton Championships medal where substantial entries submitted their design.

The Aig Victor Irish Open took place recently where athletes from all over the world came to try and win the coveted title.

Reigning champion and recent Paris 2024 Olympian Nhat Nguyen would make history by becoming the first athlete to win back-to-back Irish Open titles since 1973.

Moya’s medal design was presented to both winners and runners up on the day.
