LATEST: All boxes open at Kilkenny Count Centre

We've reached a significant milestone here at the Loreto Secondary School in Kilkenny as 100% of the boxes have been opened.

Vote verifying can now be competed and the official count will get underway shortly.

Following the completion of tallies, John McGuinness (Fianna Fáil) leads the way on 14% of the vote (9,011 votes), Jennifer Murnane O'Connor (Fianna Fáil) is second on 11.8% (7541 votes) with Peter 'Chap' Cleere just behind on 10.4% (6,660 votes).

Green Party TD for Carlow-Kilkenny, Malcolm Noonan, currently has some ground to make up in General Election 2024 in his bid to retain his seat in the Dáil. The local minister has just 4.2% of the vote (2,664 votes).

We think we will have a first count at about 5pm. Updates here as they happen!
