We have had a long day of tallying and waiting for the official count to begin at the Carlow-Kilkenny count centre, at the Loreto Secondary School in Kilkenny City with the first count still to get underway.

WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR: Following the completion of tallies, John McGuinness (Fianna Fáil) leads the way on 14% of the vote (9,011 votes), Jennifer Murnane O'Connor (Fianna Fáil) is second on 11.8% (7541 votes) with Peter 'Chap' Cleere just behind on 10.4% (6,660 votes). - COMPLETE FINAL TALLY

Just over half of voters turned out to vote in Carlow-Kilkenny in this year's General election according to tally figures.

The voting turn out in the constituency is projected to be just over 52% with 64,150 of the local electorate projected to have voted.

Green Party TD for Carlow-Kilkenny, Malcolm Noonan, currently has some ground to make up in General Election 2024 in his bid to retain his seat in the Dáil. The local minister has just 4.2% of the vote (2,664 votes).

The big question - will anyone be elected on the first count like Kathleen Funchion of Sinn Féin was last time around? Stay tuned to our Live Blog for up to the minute news!
