LATEST: Kilkenny candidate now within touching distance of election after count nine

Sitting Kilkenny TD John McGuinness is now within touching distance of reaching the quota to be elected after a flurry of transfers from eliminated Green Party candidate Malcolm Noonan.

McGuinness currently has 11,063 total votes, and needs to reach the magic number of 11,627.

Aontú candidate Gary O'Neill from Ferrybank is the latest candidate to be excluded, and it will be interesting to see who benefits from his transfers.
