Fine Gael supporters in the Kilkenny part of the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency have expressed fears over having no local representative in the party as the race tightens up in General Election 2024.
Earlier this evening, Kilkenny candidate Michael Doyle was eliminated after the tenth count. The South Kilkenny based candidate finished in ninth position out of twenty candidates with 5,467 votes.
At the time of writing, party colleague David FitzGerald is just above the cut, holding on with a total of 8,174 votes after the 12th count.
In Carlow meanwhile, Fine Gael TD Catherine Callaghan is performing well with 9,231 votes at present.
