CluneTech hosted an awards evening for the Kilkenny GAA Na Cait Óga Hurling and Football Academy last week.

The awards celebrated and honoured the young athletes as they came to the end of the year with the Kilkenny GAA academy.
The awards were presented to the under-16 hurling players and under-16 Football players where there was an attendance of over 125 spectators at the CluneTech HQ in the IDA Business & Technology Park on the Kilkenny Ring Road.

As well as the hurling and football awards, there was similar given out for camogie with the under-15 Kilkenny Academy teams and Development squads also honoured the following night.

Performance Lead of the Kilkenny GAA Cait Óga Academy Michael Fennelly was the spearhead on both nights while former Kilkenny stars Henry Shefflin and Miriam Walsh were special guests as they outlined their experiences in the black and amber jersey.

The two All-Ireland winners were also joined by Tyrone footballer Richie Donnelly in what was a great couple of nights for everyone in attendance.

The get-together brought an end to a hugely successful first year of the revamped academy in the county and while it is too soon to see any results on the field, it’s hoped that in the long-term Kilkenny GAA will see the benefit.
