Residents in a Kilkenny City area have expressed grave concern over the lack of speed ramps in the St Patrick’s locality.
One local man living in Larchfield claimed, “A child will be killed with the speed of cars (passing the Gala store). They could easily run out from behind a parked car and not be seen.”
“It’s very important that it’s sorted and fairly quick,” Fianna Fáil councillor Joe Malone commented, adding, a risk to the elderly community is also posed in some of the area’s estates.

Speed surveys will dictate where speed ramps will be located, a Kilkenny County Council spokesperson told Kilkenny Live.
“We have carried out a number of speed surveys in 2024 and a decision will be made in the spring of 2025 as to how many speed ramps will be installed,” they stated.
