Kilkenny student, Cathal Norton, was awarded the prestigious UCD Ad Astra Scholarship for excellent academic achievement in February.
Norton is currently completing year two of a Chemical and Bioprocessing Engineering degree.
The scholarship is a leadership program available to students who demonstrate high intellectual achievement and are motivated to develop further by undertaking a challenging programme and developing their leadership skillset.
His former school, CBS Kilkenny paid tribute to the local man, stating: "Well done Cathal, we are very proud of you."
