Volunteers will take to the streets on Monday morning in the city centre

Kilkenny people encouraged to support Special Olympics Ireland in upcoming fundraiser

Locals will have the opportunity to support Special Olympics Ireland with a much-anticipated bake sale in Kilkenny this Monday.

Some members of An Garda Síochana in Kilkenny will represent Ireland in the law enforcement torch run at the Special Olympics and ahead of the games, they will be selling donuts on Monday, December 23 at the Town Hall on High Street.

Along with local Special Olympics Athletes, No Name Club members and other volunteers, gardaí will be spreading festive cheer and selling freshly made Kelly's Bakery donuts, with Jelly the inflatable Cop also on hand to help.

All profits go to the Special Olympics to fund the games.

The World Winter Games are being held in January in Italy and athletes from Ireland are working hard to prepare ahead of the games.

Donuts cost €2 for a two pack or €5 for a six pack.
