Kilkenny loves The Boss! Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band got a warm welcome back to the city when they played Nowlan Park in May

In Callan local heritage was presented in a new Callan Heritage Trail, which was officially launched in the grounds of St Mary’s Abbey.


New information signs and finger-post directional signs were erected, with 10 points of interest. Kilkenny County Council was supported by Callan Macra and Callan Heritage Society, and the new trail was launched by MEP Seán Kelly.

Walking was the key word in the city when nature enthusiasts took a stroll in the Castle Park to listen to the dusk chorus. The event was organised by the OPW and Birdwatch Ireland.

Plans were announced to explore the potential for a new hotel in Kilkenny City’s historic Abbey Quarter.
Discussions were planned between interested stakeholders to assess the feasibility of such a development.
