Kilkenny man, John Murphy (Massford) had his step-down parade in the Curragh in recent days.
BQMS Murphy, as he is known in the Army (Battalion Quartermaster Sergeant) has served 43 years in the Defence Forces and served 13 overseas trips before.
On Thursday last, he retired. A great day was had by all.
